The Shiba Inu development team has successfully completed an emergency security upgrade for the Shibarium bridge ahead of a major hard fork aimed at enhancing network performance and scalability.
On November 30, developer Kaal Dhairya confirmed the completion of a major maintenance effort on the Shibarium bridge. This upgrade temporarily paused token burns to address security concerns and prepare for upcoming changes. With the security upgrade now completed, the bridge is fully operational again. Meanwhile, upgrades for burn contracts are ongoing, and a hard fork scheduled for next week aims to optimize network performance and scalability.
Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s Layer-2 blockchain solution, has gained considerable traction since its launch last year—processing nearly 600 million transactions and reaching its 500 millionth milestone earlier this month. Additionally, around 2 million blockchain addresses have interacted with Shibarium, highlighting its significance in the blockchain space.
The impending upgrade represents a strategic milestone for the Shiba Inu ecosystem, signaling its commitment to innovation and network improvement as it expands its capabilities in the blockchain space.
