The Fed meets this week and that could set the tone for the rest of the year. Here is what is on my mind today.

1. I already reported Visa filed for patents, including a crypto wallet, NFTs and an exchange. Did you know PayPal and Western Union have gotten in on it? PayPal is working on its own wallet…still. PayPal is already allowing users to buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin. That lineup already tells me they are not ready for primetime, by the way. As you would expect Western Unions patents is all about the payments process, including what could lead to a wallet and custodial services. Here is a question: just what is it they are doing so differently than what is already on the market they think is patentable?

2. Thailand is still making moves toward their CBDC. The thing to think about it the Bank of Thailand is still searching for the benefits of developing a CBDC and whether or not one would actually aid their financial markets. They seem to be saying a CBDC release could be as far as 5 years out even though their pilot may be ready to go now.

3. The Hong Kong government may be changing their stance on the tokenized securities, virtual asset ETFs and the involvement of retail investors. This seems to be a huge reversal as they openly state they are ready to engage in conversations with virtual assets providers. Of course, I am expecting CEXs like Binance, FTX, Coinbase and others to jump right in.

4. Now that Elon Musk has his hands on Twitter, could we see a head-to-head with Jack Dorsey's Bluesky project? Bluesky is aimed at being a decentralized social media play while Elon is on record as stating he wants at least some of Twitter transactions to be on-chain. How this all plays out will be quite interesting.

5. Top Shiba Inu developer Shytoshi Kusama, is hinting there is some news to come about the coin. This could mean there is news coming about Shiba Eternity, a collectible card game that was launched earlier this month. Any new details about this game could send the coin upward. Yes, I am a big fan of SHIB and hold a nice bag.
