The merge has happened and life goes on. Cardano is next. Retail prices are declining, providing a contrarian perspective on the economy. Here is what is on my mind today.

1. The merge happened and not much has changed. Charles Hoskinson is right. The merge is just the foundation for what is to come. Don't get me wrong. It is a huge step in the right direction, especially where energy consumption is concerned. That said, the next step is supposed to deliver the speed, scaling and lower fees everyone is looking for. Speed and scaling are already here with Polygon if you are interested in an EVM solution. Then you have the Vasil hard fork that is coming in just a couple of weeks that will deliver all of that for Cardano.

2. My friend, Nick sent me a link to Brian Armstrong's Twitter account last night. The CEO of Coinbase announced they have created a politician scorecard feature for their app. This is a big deal as news around regulatory affairs starts to swirl around the Cryptoverse. The implementation on the heels of them banning politics at work. Not to mention all of the noise that comes with the reigning nutjob at the SEC. This is a straight up wow!

3. This may be the first time Elon has done something involving Dogecoin and the price has not moved. This ought to tell you something. It was silly to think this news was going to outweigh the Ethereum merge or the upcoming Cardano Vasil hard fork. Maybe he was thinking it would add to the good news. I think he should concentrate of cleaning up his messes and stop trying to manipulate crypto.

4. In a huge government move, Thailand's SEC has banned crypto companies from offering staking and lending services. They are specifically targeting Zipmex, but imagine the message it sends. The press release says banning depository services, including paying returns to lenders, is meant to protect people from the risks associated with crypto lenders. Or, is it to keep lending under the control of a few. I wonder.

5. South Korea has begun the process to void Do Kwon's passport. Under international law, if a person's passport is voided, they are to be returned to their country of origin. That said, he resides in Singapore and that is where he formed Terraform Labs. It will be interesting to see how this plays out from a legal perspective. Terra is done.
