• Andre Cronje thinks crypto is in need of regulation to protect investors
• Stablecoin Terra UST has flipped Binance USD to become the third largest stablecoin by market cap
• Ireland is banning donations of digital assets to political parties citing external interference
• Apple's iCloud has been identified by MetaMask as a risk to their digital assets

There are a lot of things happening that will have effects over the long term. Here is what's on my mind today.

1. Andre Cronje thinks crypto is in need of regulation to protect investors. In a post on Medium, he equates this to a child trying to stick their finger in a socket. Regulation would the cover on the socket stopping that from happening until the child understood why they shouldn't do that. I am pretty sure a lot of us agree with that sentiment. If you don't remember Mr. Cronje, He was working very closely with Anton Nell, a Senior Solutions Architect at Fantom Foundation. Both had left the work they were doing. Mr. Cronje even deleted his Twitter account, saying he was walking away from crypto (although he could return). So, when a person like this says crypto needs regulation, others listen.

2. Stablecoin Terra UST has flipped Binance USD to become the third largest stablecoin by market cap. That said, UST has a volume that is one quarter of that of Binance USD. This flip represents an over 15% rise in UST in just the last 30 days. That is a major move that cannot be ignored. Keep your eye on Terra Luna.

3. Ireland is banning donations of digital assets to political parties citing external interference. As you may know, Russia has been interfering with elections around the world and this move is meant to counter at least some of that interference. Although subtle, the moves made by Russia in Ireland have been far reaching. This kind of macro event may or may not have a widespread effect on crypto, but it will at least affect local users.

4. Apple's iCloud has been identified by MetaMask as a risk to their digital assets. This comes as MetaMask expanded into Apple's ecosystem allowing users to purchase crypto without having first depositing ETH into their wallet. Those users that enable backing up their data on iCloud could have their keys stolen should they have their account phished by nefarious individuals. MetaMask says those customers should create a very strong password for their Apple account. I would take this a step further and recommend they treat Apple account as they would their banking accounts, with the utmost care and security.
