tl;dr

As usual, there is a lot going on. Here is what is on my mind today:1. PayPal says all NFT transactions of $10K and higher are ineligible their Seller Protection program. 2. 4068 or 3.6% of all whales are holding about $25 billion of illicit gains in crypto assets mostly made in dark web activities....

As usual, there is a lot going on. Here is what is on my mind today:

1. PayPal says all NFT transactions of $10K and higher are ineligible their Seller Protection program.

2. 4068 or 3.6% of all whales are holding about $25 billion of illicit gains in crypto assets mostly made in dark web activities. The greater majority of these whale wallets are associated with Russian IP addresses. As I was pointing out yesterday, this would make it difficult for legal authorities to access those illegal gains.

3. Colorado is preparing to accept Bitcoin and certain altcoins for tax payments by the end of summer. This could wind up being a HUGE boon for the state when you consider the problems currently facing the cannabis industry. Clearly, one of the obvious altcoins, to me, would be Ethereum. The question is what other coins will be considered. I am looking at you SHIB. Get to lobbying SHIBnation!

4. Josh Gottheimer has introduced a bill for regulating stablecoins, the Stablecoin Innovation and Protection Act. The draft bill has received several nods from the cryptocurrency space including Circle, FTX and others, basically says
a. Coins must be 100% backed by cash reserves
b. Can only be issued by only 2 types of qualified issuers: an insured depository institution (bank) or a non-bank qualified issuer
c. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) with primary oversight
d. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will be required to develop a Qualified Stablecoin Insurance Fund
e. Does not restrict issuance of other types of cryptocurrencies
