Here is what has caught my attention:1. Phantom Wallet got $109M and a $1.2B valuation; it runs on Solana and is a major MetaMask competitor 2. ConsenSys has acquired MyCrypto and plans to merge it into MetaMask; MetaMask grew over 20x since October 2020 with its focus being on its browser extension and mobile app, MyCrypto brings desktop and web browser features; The merge would also bring 12 employees and create a triumvirate at the leadership level between the 3 CEOs; The merge could also help with MetaMask's hyper growth and allow the team to look toward the future 3. The metaverse is bigger than people think. Land sold thus far has totaled over $500M 4. Not to left out, Sony buys game maker Bungie, the maker of popular games Destiny and Halo, for $3.6B 5. In Thailand a plan for a 15% tax on crypto traders has been withdrawn after major pushback from traders. This is following Thailand's already implemented ban on NFTs and meme coins since June of last year. The Bank of Thailand, Ministry of Thailand and the Thai SEC have jointly committed to regulating the cryptocurrency agency even though the Thai SEC has been flipflopping. 6. MicroStrategy has purchased another $25M in Bitcoin; this is after the SEC objects to the accuracy of MicroStrategy's valuing of their Bitcoin holdings 7. India is looking to enforce a 30% tax on crypto earnings and people are furious 8. Analytics platform WhaleAlert says a portion of the over $3.6B stolen from Bitfinex has moved from the hacker's wallets 9.
