Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) has introduced a new feature that allows users to connect their Facebook and Instagram accounts to Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), enabling them to make purchases directly from promotions on the social media apps. Customers in the U.S. will be able to view real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates, and product details on select Amazon product ads in Facebook and Instagram. This move is expected to boost Meta's advertising revenue, which has been impacted by iOS privacy changes implemented by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) in 2021. The feature could also present a significant revenue opportunity for Meta, Amazon, and advertisers, similar to Pinterest's Amazon Ads partnership. According to Maurice Rahmey, co-CEO of digital marketing firm Disruptive Digital and former Facebook employee, the new feature has the potential to improve targeted ads and generate significant revenue for Meta, Amazon, and advertisers. Rahmey compared it to Pinterest's partnership with Amazon Ads, suggesting that it could have a similar impact. This development is seen as a positive move for Meta's advertising revenue, which has been negatively affected by privacy changes implemented by Apple. By allowing users to buy products directly from the social media apps, Meta can leverage its vast user base to create new revenue streams and enhance the user experience.
