Apple Plans Appeal of European Digital Antitrust Decision Apple's (AAPL) move to appeal the European Union's decision to include the App Store in its digital antitrust list is expected to be the first of many. The tech giant will also argue that its iMessage service shouldn't be subject to closer scrutiny from regulators. Furthermore, Apple's appeal is still in the works and shares rose by 1% on Friday. The appeal must be filed by November 16 and if unsuccessful, the company will still be required to comply with the European Union's new regulations once they take effect on March 6, which will restrict platforms from favoring their own services and combining personal data, among other things. The European Commission identified Apple as one of several "gatekeepers" under the Digital Markets Act. The company is also facing antitrust probes regarding its tap-and-pay technology and rival music streaming services in Europe. Additionally, it has filed its annual report and amended risk factors to include potential App Store risks due to the Digital Markets Act. Furthermore, Apple is involved in disputes over unpaid taxes in Ireland to the tune of €13B.
