Thomas Silkjær, the XRP Ledger Foundation (XRPLF) Analytics Head, has debunked claims that the XRPL is getting an EVM integration with the upcoming EVM sidechain. The collaboration between Ripple and Peersyst Technology to develop an EVM sidechain for the XRP Ledger is expected to complement the XRPL’s functionalities, allowing developers to build EVM-compatible dApps and smart contracts. Despite the excitement, Silkjær clarifies that the XRPL is not getting an EVM integration and the sidechain is entirely different from the XRPL protocol.
Ripple has partnered with Peersyst Technology to create this EVM sidechain. The XChainBridge, which is in the advanced development stage, is aimed at connecting the EVM sidechain with the XRPL. Additionally, Ripple has teamed up with EasyA to introduce learning modules for developers, focusing on the upcoming EVM sidechain. Silkjær stressed that while the sidechain will allow for EVM-compatible development on the XRP Ledger, it is important to note that the XRPL itself is not undergoing an EVM integration, as some reports have suggested.
