Adidas has partnered with Crypto: The Game, an internet survivor game with a cryptocurrency reward. The game's second season concluded with 800 players competing for pooled ETH. Participants had to purchase a non-fungible token (NFT) for 0.1 ETH (roughly $350) to join the game. The game is powered by Base, Coinbase's layer-2 network, with 571 players remaining after three days. Players will soon be able to bid on Adidas tracksuit skins as part of a custom challenge.
In 2021, Adidas minted 30,000 Into The Metaverse tokens and collaborated with Bored Ape Yacht Club. In 2023, they introduced the Into ALTS by Adidas NFT collection, allowing holders of the older collection to receive new NFTs by burning their tokens. Puma also entered the NFT industry in 2022 with the launch of "metaverse sneakers."
