Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) was down 3.60% at 12:11 p.m. on Monday, and swapped hands as low as $138.80 earlier in the session. Despite a 40% year-to-date decline in share price, the market cap on Tesla (TSLA) is still at $449B, ranking the company as the 18th most valuable in the U.S. Tesla (TSLA) is also still valued at 4X the combined market cap of General Motors (GM) and Ford Motor (F). However, an interesting development occurred recently when the market cap on Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) passed right by the market cap on Tesla (TSLA). Exxon Mobil (XOM) has higher ratings from Seeking Alpha analysts, Wall Street analysts, and on a quantitative analysis basis. Of note, Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) has also narrowed the valuation gap with Tesla (TSLA) to less than $150B, with its 25% year-to-date rally. The Seeking Alpha Quant Rating on Toyota (TM) is flashing Strong Buy. Tesla (TSLA) is due to report Q1 earnings on Tuesday. While Tesla is expected to report revenue of $22.5B and EPS of $0.50, the biggest focus may be on the automotive gross margin line. On the conference call, some of the key topics will be AI initiatives, margin expectations, FSD take rates, as well as what the product roadmap looks like, including if the mass-market Model 2 is still part of the master plan.
