Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and OpenAI have resumed discussions on integrating the startup's generative AI capabilities into the next iPhone model, expected later this year, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The latest discussions have also centered around terms of a possible agreement between the two, according to the people who chose not to be identified as the talks remained private. The discussions mark a renewed attempt by the tech giant to add OpenAI features to Apple's iOS 18, the next iPhone operating system. The company started discussions with Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)-backed OpenAI about a potential deal early this year, following similar deliberations with Google-parent Alphabet (GOOG) (GOOGL) to use the latter's AI model Gemini into the iPhone. Apple (AAPL) has yet to finalize a partnership, and the company might opt to reach an agreement with both firms or prefer one over another. Apple (AAPL), OpenAI, and Google were not available for requests for comments.
