Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced that its generative artificial intelligence chatbot, Q, is now fully available to developers. Shares rose 0.4% in early trading. “Since we announced the service at re:Invent, we have been amazed at the productivity gains developers and business users have seen,” AWS executive Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian said in a statement. “Early indications signal Amazon Q could help our customers’ employees become more than 80% more productive at their jobs; and with the new features we’re planning on introducing in the future, we think this will only continue to grow.” Q is now capable of writing or fixing code and is capable of making multi-line suggestions for code, Amazon said. The company also unveiled Amazon Q Apps that will allow employees to build custom AI-powered apps from their company's data, using text prompts. Unveiled in November, Q is powered by large language models and other foundation models, available through Amazon Bedrock. It competes with other AI coding tools, such as Microsoft's (MSFT) GitHub Copilot. Amazon is slated to report first-quarter results after the close of trading. A consensus of analysts expect the Seattle-based company to earn $0.83 per share on $142.55B in revenue.
