Wintermute, a London-based crypto trading firm, has partnered with OSL Digital Securities and HashKey HK Exchange to provide liquidity for spot bitcoin and ether ETFs listed in Hong Kong. The collaboration aims to strengthen Wintermute's market share in Asia, particularly in Hong Kong, a leading advocate for crypto in the APAC region.

Wintermute CEO Evgeny Gaevoy highlighted the significance of crypto ETFs in attracting institutional and retail investors to the digital asset space, emphasizing the potential for market expansion and growth through increased access to digital assets in Asia. The company will facilitate the creation and redemption process of the ETFs by assisting in the buying, selling, and delivery of underlying assets.

This move aligns with Wintermute's broader expansion into the Asian market, aiming to capitalize on the growing demand for crypto exposure. The partnership reflects Hong Kong's emergence as a key player in the crypto space, with the hope that other countries will follow suit in the near future. Despite their slow start, the Hong Kong-listed bitcoin ETFs, launched on April 29, have accumulated nearly 4,400 bitcoins, equivalent to roughly $276 million in assets under management as of the close on Monday.
