Stock index futures were largely flat on Wednesday, while yields were mixed. S&P 500 futures (SPX) was flat, Dow futures (INDU) was flat, and Nasdaq 100 futures (US100:IND) -0.1%. The 10-year Treasury yield (US10Y) rose 3 basis points to 4.48%. The 2-year yield (US2Y) was unchanged at 4.85%. The major market averages on Tuesday ended mixed, as a slump in Walt Disney (DIS) offset gains in defensive stocks. "It's worth noting that the equal-weighted S&P 500 managed to post a stronger gain, since the Magnificent 7 dragged down the rest of the index amidst larger declines from Tesla (TSLA) and Nvidia (NVDA)," said Deutsche Bank's Jim Reid. The theme park and entertainment giant's latest quarterly results showed a decline in revenue from its traditional television businesses, while its cautious outlook weighed on its stock, which ended 9.5% lower on Tuesday. Investors will also keep an eye out for the March wholesale inventories report, which is expected to land during market hours. Economists expect a month-on-month decline to -0.4%. "The wholesale sector is a worthy part of the economy, it is hard to get excited about it," said UBS' Paul Donovan. The MBA mortgage applications are also due before the bell. "Today’s weekly numbers on mortgage applications for home purchase likely will show a slight recovery but will still point to very weak housing demand," said Pantheon Macroeconomics. There are a few Fed speakers lined up to present their remarks, which include Vice Chair Philip Jefferson, Boston Fed President Susan Collins, and Fed Governor Lisa Cook. The result of the $42B, 10-Year note auction is also due later in the day.
