Genesis Global, a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group (DCG), has begun repaying creditors with $4 billion after completing bankruptcy restructuring. On average, creditors will recover 64% of their holdings, with Bitcoin creditors at 51.28% and Ethereum at 65.87%. Altcoin creditors (excluding Solana) will get 87.65% recoveries, while Solana creditors will recover nearly 30%. US dollar and stablecoin creditors will recover 100% of their holdings.
Additionally, a $70 million litigation fund has been established by creditors to pursue legal action, including against Digital Currency Group. In February, DCG objected to the bankruptcy plan, but the court ruled in favor of Genesis, citing the lack of sufficient assets for DCG to recover. Genesis customer funds had been frozen since November 2022 due to liquidity problems caused by the collapse of crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital.
