The messaging app Telegram has introduced a new feature allowing creators to earn Toncoin (TON), the native cryptocurrency of The Open Network. Users can now send reactions in Stars, an in-app currency tied to TON, to content creators and channels. These Stars can be converted into TON or used to pay for advertising. Channel operators will receive 100% of the stars, regardless of whether they convert them to TON or use them for ads.
With a market cap of $17.7 billion, TON is the ninth-largest digital asset and has been integrated into Telegram after being abandoned by the company in 2020. The Open Network, originally created within Telegram, is now independently operated and has gained prominence through the development of crypto games and apps.
Furthermore, Telegram users can also send Bitcoin and USDT through the platform, which has been enhanced with various crypto-friendly features. Independent developers have continued to build out The Open Network, contributing to its growth. TON's current price stands at $7.04, having risen 9% in the past day.
