US authorities are conducting a manhunt for Horst Jicha, a German man accused of running a $150 million cryptocurrency fraud scheme. Jicha skipped a court appearance and is now a fugitive. He faces charges of securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering related to a multilevel marketing crypto scheme called USI Tech.
Jicha allegedly deposited $1 million for bail, and the prosecution plans to obtain the additional $4 million guaranteed by his family and others. His trial is scheduled for March 31st. Jicha is accused of abruptly shutting down USI Tech's US operations in 2018, leaving investors with significant losses. He fled the US but was arrested in December 2023 while attempting to vacation in Miami.
