Tornado Cash developer, Alex Pertsev, has been sentenced to 64 months in prison by The Netherlands’ Oost-Brabant district court for money laundering. He is now preparing for an appeal while in jail.


Treasury Department's OFAC imposed sanctions on Tornado Cash for aiding in laundering $7 billion, including funds linked to North Korean hackers. U.S. Congressman Brad Sherman and six other House members oppose Tornado Cash's continued online operation despite sanctions, and have written to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
