Uniswap Labs has officially confirmed the launch of Unichain, a highly-anticipated layer-1 blockchain set to transition to mainnet on January 6, 2025. The main focus of Unichain is decentralization, with the inclusion of Permissionless Fault Proofs from day one, allowing open verification of the chain's activity.
Following the mainnet launch, an "experimental testnet" will be introduced, featuring Flashblocks for near-instant transactions and the Unichain Validation Network for community-run test validation nodes. Rollup-Boost is also expected to go live on mainnet shortly after launch, utilizing Flashbots’ TEE-based block builder for transaction security and priority ordering.
Unichain Sepolia will undergo maintenance on January 6, 2025, to enable Permissionless Fault Proofs, after which the mainnet will be open to all users for fund bridging and application support. The blog post from Uniswap Labs reveals these details, providing insights into the upcoming developments in the decentralized crypto exchange landscape.
