MetaMask has released its 2025 roadmap focused on optimizing the Web3 experience and increasing mainstream adoption. This roadmap includes plans to enhance user experience, ensure multichain connectivity, and fortify wallet security and functionality. Notable updates involve the transition to programmable accounts, ERC-5792 batched transactions, and multichain support for Solana and Bitcoin. Additional features such as Profile Sync, support for multiple Secret Recovery Phrases, and the MetaMask Card for direct crypto spending are also outlined.

MetaMask's roadmap is built around three main pillars: enhancing user experience, ensuring seamless multichain connectivity, and fortifying wallet security and functionality. One of the standout features is the transition from externally owned accounts (EOAs) to programmable accounts, along with the introduction of ERC-5792 batched transactions. The wallet will also extend gas-included swaps to all transactions starting in March.

MetaMask has also shared ambitious multichain expansions. Solana (SOL) integration will arrive in May, while Bitcoin (BTC) support is expected in Q3 2025. A Multichain API is set to launch in June, enabling dapps to connect to Ethereum (ETH), Linea, Solana, and Bitcoin simultaneously. Profile Sync and support for multiple Secret Recovery Phrases will be introduced to keep settings consistent across devices and enable users to manage multiple wallets from a single MetaMask instance. Additionally, the MetaMask Card will allow users to spend their crypto directly without going through traditional offramps.

Moreover, MetaMask has built the MetaMask Delegation Framework to facilitate flexible and secure account permissions. This system aims to enhance security by giving users the ability to delegate specific tasks while maintaining overall control, making it easier to balance usability with high-level security. This roadmap arrives on the heels of a major regulatory victory as the SEC dropped its lawsuit against MetaMask.
