MGM Resorts International has agreed to pay a $45 million settlement for two massive data breaches that impacted approximately 37 million customers. The breaches, occurring in 2019 and 2023, exposed sensitive personal data and disrupted operations at hotels. Eligible members affected by the breaches can claim up to $15,000 for documented losses or receive tiered cash payments along with one year of financial monitoring. The deadline to file claims is June 3, 2025, with opt-out or objection deadlines on May 19, 2025. MGM has settled without admitting fault.
In July 2019, the breach exposed names, addresses, phone numbers, and dates of birth, raising widespread identity theft concerns. In September 2023, the breach also leaked personal data and led to major issues at the hotels, rendering guests’ digital room keys inoperable while crashing ATMs, slot machines, and check-in systems. The settlement resolves a class-action lawsuit and allows eligible members to claim compensation based on the type of compromised data. Claims must be filed by June 3, 2025, and opt-out or objection deadlines are May 19, 2025.
