Adidas is partnering with the Sui-based game Xociety to launch 2,600 limited edition NFT mystery boxes featuring Adidas-themed virtual apparel for in-game avatars. These boxes will be available from May 16 to May 23 and are priced at $129 each.

The NFTs include digital clothing sets with varying rarity levels, authenticity certificates, and XCS tokens that represent corporate shares in Xociety. The rarity tiers range from "Uncommon" to "First," with the rarest boxes containing all eight Adidas skin sets. Each set features Adidas-branded tops, bottoms, and sneakers for player avatars, and the NFTs will be tradable on marketplaces after the drop.

Xociety is a "pop shooter" game built on the Sui blockchain, with its next playtest scheduled for May 15. The game is available on the Epic Games Store and raised $7.5 million last summer to aid development.

Adidas initially entered the NFT space in 2021 with collaborations including Bored Ape Yacht Club, Doodles, and Stepn. Unlike Adidas, some competitors such as Nike have pulled back from the NFT market, notably shutting down their RTFKT subsidiary in late 2024 after acquiring the Web3 startup three years prior.
