Coinbase is set to introduce CFTC-regulated perpetual futures trading for U.S. customers, marking a significant step toward offering a secure and compliant crypto derivatives product domestically. This move aims to provide U.S. traders with access to powerful crypto trading instruments while adhering to U.S. margin and clearing regulations.

In addition to expanding derivatives offerings, Coinbase will launch the Coinbase One Card in fall 2025. This Bitcoin-backed credit card, available exclusively to Coinbase One subscribers who pay an annual fee of $49.99, offers up to 4% Bitcoin rewards on every purchase. The card integrates convenience and value by allowing repayments from linked bank accounts or crypto holdings, with no foreign transaction fees—a boon for frequent travelers and crypto enthusiasts alike.

Subscribers of Coinbase One not only gain access to the Coinbase One Card but also enjoy an array of enhanced benefits, including waived trading fees on the first $500 of monthly spot volume, increased USDC rewards of up to 4.5% on the first $10,000, boosted staking yields by 5% on eligible assets, and coverage of $10 in monthly Base smart wallet gas fees. Moreover, holders of the One Card will have exclusive access to American Express Experiences and retail offers, with rewards scaling for customers maintaining larger balances on the platform.

Max Branzburg, Coinbase's head of consumer and business products, emphasized that derivatives account for 75% of global crypto turnover, highlighting the importance of bringing compliant perpetual futures trading to U.S. investors. Coinbase’s strategy reflects a vision to not only maintain rigorous regulatory compliance but also to democratize access to advanced crypto trading products and enhance user engagement through innovative financial services.
